Dorian Harman, also referred to as Old Dorian, is a witch and a member of the Harman family. He is only mentioned on the family tree and so little is known about him. Dorian is the only son of Dorcas Harman and Jareth Fincastle, and the brother of Cybele and Ursula.
The name Dorian is Greek in origin and is believed to be derived from Dorus, a legendary Ancient Greek hero, who was the mythical founder of the Dorian tribe and son of Hellen, who in some myths is the son of the king of the gods, Zeus. Thus, Dorian can be considered a traditional witch name.
- One of the most famous bearer's of the name Dorian is Dorian Gray, a fictional character in Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, which tells the story of a young man who stays youthful for many years, whilst his portrait becomes more aged and hideous as he lives a life of vice and excess.
