Selene is a member of the Weald family. At some point, she married Grandin Harman, a member of the famous Harman family and they had a daughter, Sylvia. Due to the matriarchy of the witches, Sylvia was considered a member of the Weald clan, like her mother. However, when she reached her late teens, Sylvia desired to be recognised as a Harman instead, due to this being her father's birth-clan. When Sylvia was not accepted as a Harman due to this, she became angry and bitter with the witches over their rejection and ended up betraying them to serve Hunter Redfern. Sylvia eventually reconciled herself to the witches and gave her life to save the Wild Power Delos Redfern. It is unknown if Selene knew of her daughter's activities before and during Black Dawn, and how she reacted to her death.
The name Selene is a traditional witch name - it is the name of the Greek Titan moon goddess.
The surname Weald comes from Old English and means "woodland".
- Selene is only named on the family tree.
- Selene shares her name with another witch character, the teenager Selene Lucna. Her name is also similar to that of Selena Harman, who is a relative of her husband's.
- Given that most witches seceded to Circle Daybreak and that Selene is married to a Harman, she may have become a Daybreaker too, though this is unspecified.
